GRE Assets celebrates Topping Out Ceremony at Riverside Park in Ashford
GRE Assets has marked a significant milestone in the construction of its new Riverside Park development – a landmark new development for Kent’s International Town, forming a part of its ongoing success story.
The former Powergen brownfield site, located next to the Great Stour River, is on schedule to deliver a stunning new development of 246 apartments and 26 riverside townhouses.
Thomas Brosnan, Development Director, GRE Assets was joined at the site on Monday (10/9) by Cllr Gerry Clarkson, Leader of Ashford Borough Council; Tracey Kerly, Chief Executive; and Mark Quinn, CEO of Quinn Estates.
The multi-million-pound development is GRE Asset’s first major scheme in Ashford and underlines their complete confidence in the local residential market. Property prices in the area have seen a percentage growth in the last year which surpasses London and the South East. In the past two years, Ashford and Kent have grown at a similar rate to London, indicating the spill over of London residents keen to move out of the capital into more affordable residential homes.
Work on Riverside Park began in Spring 2017 with phase one of the development set for completion in Q1 2019. Its prime central location in Victoria Way, a stone’s throw from Ashford International Station and the newly opened £26m Ashford College campus has made this prestigious site one of the most sought-after residential addresses in the county.
Built around a central courtyard and public realm, the homes will be finished to a premium specification and will feature balconies to maximise on its unique setting between town and country. Many of the homes will face the picturesque Victoria Park and Watercress Fields.
Located just 38 minutes from London, and less than two hours from Paris and Brussels, Ashford is a fast-growing destination primed for further growth. Part of a multi-million-pound masterplan, including the recently launched Connect 38 commercial space, additional homes and jobs are bringing new life to the area.
Michael El-Kassir, Managing Director, GRE Assets, said:
“We are delighted to be delivering onsite at Riverside Park – especially on a previous brownfield site, that will now provide exceptional apartments and townhouses to complement the ambitious transformation of Ashford.
“We were attracted to Ashford for a number of reasons, not least because of its exceptional location and connections to London. But as important was Ashford’s successful thriving local economy and the ambitious Borough Council’s exciting regeneration plans.”

Andrew Lock, Real Estate Director, said:
“GRE Assets could not resist the opportunity to be part of the exciting future mapped out for Ashford. It is refreshing to work with a proactive Council determined to deliver that exciting future. At Riverside Park GRE Assets set out to set new high standards of quality, design and specification in both the apartments and houses.
“GRE Assets’ mission is to build properties that people will be proud to call their home, as there is nothing more important than a good, safe and secure home. Riverside Park fulfils this mission.”Andrew Lock, Real Estate Director, GRE Assets
Cllr Gerry Clarkson said:
“Riverside Park is the latest in a long line of exciting and inspirational town centre projects which together are transforming both the skyline and the fortunes of the Ashford borough. I am hugely impressed with the quality and design of the development which, like other major schemes currently underway in the area such as the Elwick Place cinema and leisure complex, makes best use of a brownfield site.
“I note that Riverside Park is GRE Asset’s first major scheme in Ashford and I’m delighted that the borough continues to be a real draw for the very best commercial enterprises and remains the obvious choice for expanding, thriving and established businesses.”
