Ashford KEiBA award successPosted on 18 July 2018
Three Ashford based companies have told how their recent success at the Kent Excellence in Business Awards has had a positive effect on their businesses.
We caught up with some of the lucky trophy-winners to see how scooping an award has impacted their business.
Digital agency Space Between was judged Start-Up Business of the Year. The town centre-based company is a user experience specialist, boasting a world-leading user experience biometrics lab to produce high performing websites and mobile apps.
Luke Frake, Founder, Space Between, said:
“Winning a KEiBA has been a huge boost for us, everybody here is absolutely buzzing and the praise we’ve had of the hard work the team puts in every day is hugely rewarding.
“Our focus has been our customers since we started so we don’t spend much time on our own image, and it’s great to see we’re being noticed for our work.”

And Luke credits the company’s location as part of its success, adding,
“We’ve been based in Ashford for the past three and a half years which has really helped us win business from London and beyond due to our fantastic train links and positioning.
“The team at Ashford Borough Council have also been fantastic in helping elevate us and pushing us further. We’re really proud to be where we are.”

One of the district’s best known success stories, Biddenden Vineyards, was a finalist in two categories and took the award for Family Business of the Year, the first time the award had ever been presented.
Julian Barnes, Managing Director, Biddenden Vineyards, said: “It was an exciting time for us over the last two to three weeks, KEiBA was great and fantastic that we won it - the first time it was presented and for a business with agriculture at its base.
“It is an exciting time at Biddenden and family is key to the continued growth of the business. As anyone with a family business will know, a lot of hours, hard work and determination is involved and to be recognised for this is extremely rewarding.

Excellence in customer service led to removal company Colin Batt Removals being presented with the Customer Service Award. The family-run company, which is based on The Mill Business Park, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Last year it collected an Ashford Business Award for customer service and is currently a finalist in the British Association of Removers Domestic Mover of the Year competition 2018.
Presenting the award, judges commended the company’s impressive 99% customer satisfaction rate.
Simon Batt, Managing Director, Colin Batt Removals, said: “All of us at Colin Batt Removals are extremely proud and humbled to win the KEiBA Customer Service Award and to be flying the flag for Ashford businesses.
“It is fantastic to be recognised as delivering outstanding customer service, not just in house removals and storage but measured against all industries across Kent.
“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff. From the managers and surveyors to the storeman and porters, we are all passionate about delivering stress free removals. To win this award is truly amazing, and in our 40th year is just the icing on the cake!
