Cycle Ashford Campaign Launched
Posted on 29 August 2025Ashford Borough Council has just launched an exciting new campaign to make cycling a bigger part of life in the borough. Cycle Ashford is all about encouraging residents of every age and ability to get on their bikes—whether it’s for commuting, leisure, or exploring the area’s scenic routes.
At the heart of this campaign is the brand new website, www.cycleashford.org.uk. Packed with useful resources, the site features a bespoke route planner that helps cyclists discover the best ways to travel between any two points in Ashford. Want to avoid busy roads or steep hills? The planner’s got you covered. You’ll also find information on convenient cycle parking spots, and you can download routes to use on digital maps during your rides.
The Cycle Ashford website also spotlights inspiring stories from local cyclists—sharing favourite rides, tips, and first-hand experiences to motivate others to follow suit. One of the campaign’s proud supporters is Henry Urand, para triathlon World Champion, Paralympian, and Ashford resident.
Riding my bike has taken me around the world to compete in major competitions, but some of my favourite routes are in and around the Ashford area. Growing up in the borough, there was nothing I loved more than exploring on my bike, and I still do most of my training following routes around the area. I hope that the Cycle Ashford campaign will encourage more people to commute to work by bike and explore the fantastic local routes we’re blessed with—while also improving their fitness.

Through the new website, Cycle Ashford provides information on local cycling routes, upcoming events, essential services for cyclists, and a wealth of advice from the borough’s cycling community. The campaign is active on Facebook, X, and Instagram, where residents can stay updated and get involved.
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just curious to give it a try, Cycle Ashford makes it easier than ever to get on your bike and discover a healthier, greener way to travel.
Ashford offers safe, scenic and accessible cycling routes for all ages and abilities. Our hope with this campaign is that it will encourage more people to consider using their bikes to get to and from work, support their own physical and mental well-being and take some cars off the road.
