Posted on 29 October 2025

Christmas celebrations are starting early at Hole Park, with an unexpected award for owner Edward Barham from the British Christmas tree industry.

Edward Barham, the fourth generation of his family to manage Hole Park and the second to oversee its Christmas tree plantations, received a special industry award at the recent British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA) competition day meeting in Newport Pagnall.

The award, which is only given periodically for exceptional service to the grower community, recognises his outstanding commitment and invaluable contribution to the Christmas Tree industry over many years, including as a BCTGA committee member.

I am extremely honoured to have received this award. My goal has always been to not only grow the best trees but to also create best practice that I can share with my colleagues in the Christmas tree industry. With the dedication of our excellent forestry team, who nurture and care for the trees 365 days a year, I’m proud that our trees are renowned for their quality, not just locally but around the country.

Hole Park’s Christmas Tree plantations cover approximately 100 acres of the Estate near Rolvenden in Kent. Up to 20,000 tree saplings are planted on the Estate every year, taking about seven years to reach a height of seven or eight feet, with around 16,000 trees harvested per year. Hole Park is one of the few Christmas tree growers based in the Kent where trees can be bought direct by the public and it is the only grower to be listed by Produced in Kent.
