Chapel Down Re-focuses Growth in Tenterden

Posted on 29 September 2025

Chapel Down Group plc, a leading wine producer in England, has reinforced its commitment to Tenterden, by announcing plans to strategically expand its winemaking operations at its original headquarters. Rather than pursuing a new site elsewhere, the company is investing in the heart of the Garden of England—where its story began and continues to flourish.

Chapel Down’s decision to enhance its existing facilities in Tenterden, to position the site as a centre of excellence for Traditional Method Sparkling wines. The company will also utilise spare third-party winemaking capacity in Kent to produce premium still wines, ensuring growth without the need for a new standalone winery.

The move comes amid a successful 2025 harvest and strong financial performance. Chapel Down reported an 11% increase in revenue in the first half of the year, with export sales up 17% thanks to new partnerships with Jackson Family Wines in the USA and Anora Group in Norway. Their wines are now featured on Virgin Atlantic flights and SeaDream Yachts, further cementing their international reputation.

With over 1,000 acres of vineyards already planted in some of Kent’s finest terroir, Chapel Down has laid the foundations for sustained profitable growth. Optimising our existing assets allows us to maintain quality while managing capital efficiently
