Virtual Recreation

Jackie has lived in Ashford for just over ten years and was looking to provide the local community, of any age, with something fun and different to do. This ambition has become a reality with the birth of Virtual Recreation, opened in November 2023 at Elwick Place in Ashford town centre.

Virtual Recreation is a Virtual Reality gaming experience for people age 7+ to experience VR gaming in a social way with bookings available for individuals, small groups and parties or events. The venue also boasts a small café serving hot and cold drinks and snacks. Jackie has been really focused on collaborating with local food and drink providers for both the café and party/event catering, supporting the local economy and talent within it.

Ashford’s broad demographic and rapidly increasing population were key factors in attracting Jackie to open Virtual Recreation in Ashford; ideal for families, teenagers and adults, the three key customer groups. Ashford’s location, with its proximity to London and access to Europe were also very attractive features for a successful business.

Jackie says ‘Ashford has a rapidly growing population that is crying out for things to do locally. The future plans for the town – particularly the film studios – will really put the town on the map and bring in more visitors’.

Jackie has valued the assistance provided by Ashford Borough Council and its keenness to support forward thinking businesses that bring something different to the town, increasing the number of jobs available and providing somewhere for the residents to visit and enjoy.
