AshfordFOR showcased on Biz Connect Radio

Posted on 27 February 2023

The AshfordFOR campaign was proudly showcased on the Biz Connect Radio’s first show of 2023.

Hosted by Martin White, Biz Connect Radio is a bi-weekly business show broadcast on Academy FM Folkestone. Covering Kent, London, Essex and Sussex, the show covers topical business news stories, shines a light on the corporate success in the region and encourages collaboration.

Tom Jenkins, Economic Development Manager at Ashford Borough Council, joined the show to introduce the AshfordFOR inward investment campaign and the Council’s Super Six projects which build on the success of the ‘Big 8’.

When asked by Martin to introduce the campaign, he said: “AshfordFOR is our investment campaign, which we use to promote the borough to the wider world and showcase why Ashford is a great place for business. Every place needs a compelling story, a compelling narrative to explain what it’s about and put some of the work that’s happening into a wider context. It sets a clear vision and an ambition for all of the people involved. So when you’re going out to find investors, getting stakeholders onboard or explaining what you’re doing to businesses and residents, it actually brings them on a journey with you.

“Ultimately it’s a digital campaign. We’ve got the website - ashfordfor.com - and we’re also on social media, LinkedIn and Twitter, so we try to promote those messages through those channels.”

Tom and Martin moved on to discuss Ashford Borough Council’s new ‘Super Six’ campaign, which is centred around some of the most exciting and ambitious projects in the borough. He continues: “[The Big 8] were a series of projects that have come forward to create some amazing job opportunities and some great investment. So as that came to an end, we needed a new round of projects that could be a fantastic sort of showcase, and we have the Super Six, which is really exciting.”

He concluded to say: “The whole tenet of AshfordFOR is that the borough is a great place for working, it’s great a place for investment, and it’s a great place for living.”

Tom was a guest on the show alongside Sam Ambrose and Emma Stafford from training services provider Prime Consultancy Group who spoke about their NVQ training packages and the skills requirement changes in the construction industry.
