CD Creates Studio
Five months in the making, CD Creates Studio, a new, professional podcast and voice recording studio launched at The Coachworks, Ashford in October 2021.
The brainchild of Director, Casey Dale, the idea of the studio was born from a conversation with The Coachworks team, who were looking for someone to take the space (that is now CD Creates). They asked Casey’s advice, who decided to go ahead and transform the space himself.
Casey explains how the vision is to fulfil the demand for a professional yet flexible recording space that didn’t exist elsewhere locally: “I spoke to my colleagues and peers from the audio, radio and music industries and the consensus was that there was nothing else like it in Kent. It is more important than ever to set your audio apart as audiences are looking for something easy and fast. If a podcast doesn’t have the sound quality to back it up, then listeners will start to look elsewhere.
“It’s about offering people a space that they otherwise wouldn’t have access to or would need to travel into London for. The Coachworks seemed like the perfect place for it. There is ample parking, it’s close to the train station and it’s in the centre of everything that is Ashford creativity right now.”
As well as podcasts, the studio can facilitate all kinds of different uses from voiceovers and voice acting to DJ sets and music lessons. The room is soundproofed and is intended to be used for whatever you want it to be. With a strong background in radio and broadcasting, Casey is on hand to support equipment and to ensure the best quality sound. There are flexible packages available from a simple one hour studio hire to full podcast production, with content planning meetings and utilising Casey’s industry connections for getting podcast guests.
Casey grew up in Ashford and after moving away with his family for a few years, he decided to make the town his home once again in January 2021. He explains how he has long seen the potential for the area: “When we were teenagers, my brother and I started putting on gigs in Ashford, as we didn’t see why we should have to travel up to London. We brought big artists like Chase & Status, Hadouken and Example to venues in town, including the Ashford Youth Theatre, which is now The Coachworks, so it almost feels like it has gone full circle!
“Why not Ashford? There is the space here. There are the people here. There is the creativity here. We just need to expose it.”Casey Dale, Director of CD Creates Studio
“I’m passionate about shouting about the local area. Ashford has always had the potential, the space and the creativity. There is so much going on and that’s what drew me back. This is a place I know and grew up in. Even after five years, I saw so much change and new things that I hadn’t seen before. In Ashford, there are lots of people who say ‘I want to do this’ and they go and do it. People actually follow through, whereas in other places it’s just talk.
“The connections in Ashford are unbelievable. It’s in the middle of Kent, it has the room for expansion and more and more people are considering it and recognising what it has to offer. Why not Ashford? There is the space here. There are the people here. There is the creativity here. We just need to expose it.”
